The search for Gills boss continues
The search for Gills boss continues

Gillingham fans are set to have to wait at least another week as the search for a new manager continues, with one new name in the frame.

KSN understands Chairman Paul Scally has conducted at least three interviews so far, with one or two set to take place over the next week.

The names that seem to be the most likely to replace former manager Andy Hessenthaler are Martin Allen, Mark Robson, Andy Scott and Peter Taylor with one surprise name having been linked with the job in the past week.

Former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Mick McCarthy has been linked with the vacant position, but it’s unknown as to whether he will seriously be considered for the job at Priestfield.

McCarthy is believed to have a home in Bromley and is said to be keen to get back into football management as soon as possible.

With Paul Scally not set to return to the UK until next week, Gills fans will have to remain patient for a little longer as the search for Hessenthaler’s successor continues.

Meanwhile, Gillingham now know what awaits them for next season after Crewe Alexandra beat Cheltenham Town 2-0 in the play-off final at Wembley.

The new fixtures for the 2012/13 season will be announced by the Football League at 9am on Monday 11th June.
